Zen
Zen Meditation Our Zen meditation group would like to extend an open invitation to anyone interested in learning about or practicing Zen meditation with us. Our meditation sessions inclue 30 minutes of zazen (sitting meditation); 10 minutes of kinhin (walking meditation); 30 minutes of zazen; and chanting of the Heart Sutra. Tea follows at the end, for those who have time. Our schedule is as follows: Monday mornings 8 - 9:30 AM Weekend retreats are held periodically. We meet at the Reno Friends (Quaker) Meeting House at 497 Highland Avenue. Highland Avenue runs between Evans (the east border of the UNR campus) and Valley Road. The Friends Meeting House is a small red brick house next to the Reno Northeast Community Center (the old YWCA). Please go to renofriends.org for directions and a map. Anyone who is interested is welcome to attend any or all of the sittings. Where: 707 S. Wells Av at Above and Beyond. Bring a cushion. Intent: Practice given by Lama Kunga in October. It is an exquisitely simple, yet powerfully healing and purifying practice emphasizing the fundamentals of refuge and bodhichitta. It is an excellent intro to Vajrayana (Tibetan) Buddhism for anyone curious about the tradition. |
