VIPASSANA (Insight) Meditation Group Session of Dharma Zephyr Sangha

Meets weekly, Wednesdays from 7-9 pm.
Session consists of sitting and walking meditation, dharma study (teachings of the Buddha), and metta practice in the Theravada tradition.
Free and open to all  

Directions:

From California Street, on south side of street opposite the Wine & Cheese Board, turn south on Humboldt. Go 1 1/2 blocks and you will see yellow and white building on east side of street. Use ramp on the left side of the building.

A weekly sitting group that traditionally begins with 30 minutes of meditation followed by discussion or teaching of Buddhist principles and practices.

Zen

Zen Meditation

Our Zen meditation group would like to extend an open invitation to anyone interested in learning about or practicing Zen meditation with us.

Our meditation sessions inclue 30 minutes of zazen (sitting meditation); 10 minutes of kinhin (walking meditation); 30 minutes of zazen; and chanting of the Heart Sutra. Tea follows at the end, for those who have time.

Our schedule is as follows:

Monday mornings 8 - 9:30 AM

Weekend retreats are held periodically.

We meet at the Reno Friends (Quaker) Meeting House at 497 Highland Avenue. Highland Avenue runs between Evans (the east border of the UNR campus) and Valley Road. The Friends Meeting House is a small red brick house next to the Reno Northeast Community Center (the old YWCA). Please go to renofriends.org for directions and a map.

Practice group of Chenrezig, The Bodhisattva of Compassion, and Amitabha, The Buddha of infinite Light.  

When: Friday evenings 6-7 PM  

Where: 707 S. Wells Av at Above and Beyond. Bring a cushion.  

Intent: Practice given by Lama Kunga in October. It is an exquisitely simple, yet powerfully healing and purifying practice emphasizing the fundamentals of refuge and bodhichitta. It is an excellent intro to Vajrayana (Tibetan) Buddhism for anyone curious about the tradition.

Meditation Nights at the
Reno Buddhist Church

Reno Buddhist Church member Phil Bryan will take the leadership of the Meditation Nights on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday evenings each month at 6:30PM. Mr. Bryan is an experienced meditator in the Zen tradition and offers help to anyone interested in practicing meditation or simply getting quiet within. 

Shamata and Prajnaparamita Practice

We will be holding a meditation the 2nd and 4th Sunday's of the month beginning in Sept. at my house 3pm-5pm, subject to change. Need to RSVP prior to coming. We will practice Shamata (the practice of calm abiding) and  (the perfection of wisdom practice). Instructor permission or prior transmission needed,
